Land Registry Polygons vs Land Title Deeds

25
Jan. 2017

Following a recent conversation with a client, the realisation of the need to verify the Land Registry data was even more apparent.  The true and correct information for land or property is via the Land Title Deed.  When moving to a mapping system and using Land Registry polygons you may find that your new system is not as accurate as you may think.  Checking the Land Registry land terriers against your legal Title Deeds is a necessity and the queries/discrepancies checked by your legal department.  Only when this process is complete you will have a comprehensive up to the day picture of all your ownership land and properties.

The checking process also gives you the opportunity to add additional reference points to link with your current or future plans, such as the Local Land and Property Gazetteer or AddressBase information and to ensure standardising property addresses in future and enabling joined up thinking and systems.
